 Roger Brown

                                                                                                                 Case Study

Roger Brown is a 30-year-old black male arrested for  aggravated assault. Roger was originally placed on 5 years’ probation  for possession of crack cocaine in January 2022.  Roger has a history of  mental health disorders and has been on the mental health probation  case load previously. Roger has a long history of being on and off his  psychotropic medication. Roger was off his medication during the last  incident when he was arrested. Roger is currently on a high level of  supervision reporting twice monthly to probation officials. Roger has  been reporting as instructed and available for home visits, as required.

Roger was hanging out at a local convenience store when he  got into a verbal argument with another male at the store.  The subject  of the argument is unknown to officials at this time. The store owner  came out and asked both men to leave the premises. Roger refused and  began to argue with the store owner, as well.   Roger became combative  and  struck the store owner with his backpack. The owner fell, hit his  head on a concrete, and suffered a head injury requiring 25 stitches.     Roger ran away from the scene.  Roger was arrested a week later by  police at his probation appointment.

Roger is currently employed as a construction worker  (11  months) and living at home with his mother. Roger’s mother is currently  unemployed.  Roger’s mother reports he does well at home and does not  give her any problems. She reports he pays most of the bills for there  household.  However, the neighbors report there are often loud arguments  and the smell of marijuana coming from the backyard.

Roger does not have a GED or HS diploma. Roger did complete a  city sponsored program that helped him get the job in construction.   Roger’s boss reports Roger is a good employee and has not missed a day  of work. Roger is married but is currently separated from his wife and  child at this time. Roger is also non-compliant with a child support  order and in arrears for 6,000 dollars. Roger has had no contact with  his wife or child.

Roger did test positive for THC and trace amounts of PCP when  given a drug test at the probation department. This will be his first  time testing positive for drugs. Roger has been going to see his MH  counselor and psychiatrist but has been dishonest about taking his  required medications. Rogers’s labs report he has not taken his meds in  quite some time.

What is your plan of action for Roger? You need to be detailed and address the specific issues outlined in his case.

You do not have to address the specific law violations for this case study.

Use Chapter 6  as a resource for your plan for Roger.

Please fully explain your logic.

  • The purpose of the study
  • Research questions
  • Site selection
  • The type of purposeful sampling strategy the researchers applied.
  • An alternative sampling strategy that the researchers could have considered. Explain your choice in terms of how the strategy is consistent with their research purpose and criteria for selecting cases.
  • Provide a data saturation definition and evaluate the work of the researchers in this article regarding their efforts to achieve data saturation. Note what the researchers could have done differently to convince you that the relevant and important themes emerged.

Be sure to support your main post and response post with reference to the week’s Learning Resources and other scholarly evidence in APA style.

        • Who is the author? If there is no author, which organization is responsible for the content?
        • Why is the author qualified to write on this topic?
        • Is there contact information, such as a publisher or an email address?
        • Does the URL reveal anything about the author or source (for example, .com, .edu, .gov, .org, .net)?
      • Evidence provided to support the accuracy of the information in this source (Online popular sources often link to supporting sources rather than cite them. Newspaper and magazine articles may use interviews as evidence.) In other words,
        • Has the information been reviewed?
        • Does the language or tone seem unbiased and free of emotion?
        • Are there spelling, grammatical, or other typographical errors?

Review the current financial statements of Starbucks through or thedatabase in the Filings and Forms page. You can access the financial statements by going to the Yahoo! Finance webpage, typing in the stock symbol of Starbucks, and then clicking on the “Financials” tab. Watch the Week 1 Assignment video with Dr. Kevin Kuznia, DBA, CSSBB, PMP, available in the online classroom.

Reviewing the previous quarter’s financial statements will provide you with data to construct pro forma financial statements for Starbucks and make some basic projections. This week, you will be charged with constructing two pro forma financial statements and addressing some questions about your projections. The two financial statements will include an Income Statement and Balance Sheet.

To begin your assignment, download the .

    Part 1

Use the or database to download the last 10-Q from Starbucks into Excel. Use the downloaded data to complete the Income Statement and Balance Sheet on the appropriate tabs in the Financial Forecasting Template. Assume the following:

    • Sales will increase for the next quarter by the same percentage increase from the previous quarter to the last reported quarter. For example, if sales increased 8% from the last quarter to the current reported quarter, you will use 8% as the sales increase for your pro formas.

Calculate the expenses to determine what will change and what will remain the same.

Note: Not all costs are associated with the cost of sales. It will be up to you to determine which line items need to be increased and which ones need to be left alone. This will require you to distinguish between fixed and variable costs. For a reminder of the difference between fixed and variable costs, please watch the video .

Within each line item expense explain your rationale, as well as provide a brief summary.

    Part 2

Then, calculate a quarterly variance analysis using the Variance Analysis tab of the Financial Forecasting Template (the same template you used for Part 1). Complete the following in your variance analysis:

    • In the Excel template, insert the line items.
    • In Column C, (Q4, 20NN) enter the previous quarter’s numbers as the budget.
    • In Column D, (Q1, 20NN) enter the current quarter’s actual numbers.
    • In Column E, the spreadsheet will calculate the dollar difference between the budget and actual numbers.
    • In Column F, the spreadsheet will calculate the percentage change.
    • In Column G, analyze and speculate the rationale for the variances.
